Tiger Racing’s 2005 Ford Mustang GT

Carol's awesome 05, street car specially equipped for drivers with disabilities - MW

Tiger Racing’s 2005 Ford Mustang GT Wins
Ford Product Excellence Award at SEMA Show

Covina, California (5 November 2004) - Tiger Racing’s latest project, a 2005
Mustang GT street car specially equipped for drivers with disabilities, was
featured in Ford’s booth at SEMA this year.

Tiger Racing has some experience in preparing high performance Mustangs for drivers with disabilities. The team fields a 2003 Mustang in the SCCA Pro
Racing SPEED World Challenge for driver Carol Hollfelder, a paraplegic who drives with hand controls. They are pleased to be working with Mobility Products & Design on the 2005 Mustang. Their brake/throttle hand controls have a sleek, modern design finished in black, anodized aluminum.

That isn’t the only adaptation that has been made to this car. Classic Design
Concepts have created a striking body kit that enhances the already powerful
lines of the retro-modern Mustang including a unique, glass roof. Bassani
Xhaust and Vortech Superchargers have added their spin to boost performance to an impressive 400 hp. HP Motorsport’s suspension, combined with MOMO’s 20” wheels wrapped in Toyo tires provide maximum grip while StopTech 14” brakes bring it all under control, making this custom Mustang a well rounded package.

“I love the new, 2005 Mustang. This car comes from the factory looking and
performing beautifully, but one of the great things about the Mustang is how
easy it is to modify with aftermarket parts,” said Hollfelder. “Our car was a
crowd favorite at SEMA and people were very excited to hear that all of the
modifications on it are commercially available from our sponsors. The car also
caught the eye of the Ford engineers who presented us with a Ford Product
Excellence Award on the last day of the show. The award was based on new product development, vehicle appearance and use of aftermarket products.”

The team has been supported by Ford for a number of years and will continue
that relationship in the coming year. The 2005 Mustang will be appearing in
Ford’s booth at a number of the major auto shows, as well as the Abilities Expos.

Hollfelder noted, “There are a lot of people with disabilities out there
looking for high performance, sporty cars. This new Mustang fills the bill
perfectly and Ford’s Mobility Motoring program can help them get into one.”

Tiger Racing worked with a number of additional companies on this project
including Nartron Corporation, KONI Shocks, Eibach springs, Cometic gaskets, BASF paint, Cobra seats, Katzkin Leather, Schroth harnesses, Tractech differentials and Royal Purple lubricants. The car will continue to tour with Ford Mobility Motoring and will next appear in Ford’s booth at the Detroit Auto Show.
